Every Saturday, QueerAF helps you understand the queer headlines and stay on top of the latest LGBTQIA+ content - all while we support queer creatives. This week, it's written by Jamie Wareham and another queer creative as usual.

πŸ’¬ This week:

  • Twitter. Musk's hate-fuelled reign went up a notch this week. We explore what it means for queer users.
  • India. Could be set to legalise same-sex marriage for a fifth of all LGBTQIA+ people in a supreme court decision.
  • Lesbians. Ahead of Lesbian Visibility Week, Aphra Luchesa talks about the joy of being a Lesbian, even though visibility can be complicated

Skip the doom scrolling and support queer creatives instead. We are QueerAF – and so are you.

Before we start - a quick note to update you on our AI policy.

We are concerned about the race to deploy AI as quickly as possible without adequate safety measures. AIs learn existing human biases, so they will inevitably be built with LGBTQIA+ prejudices.

Generative AI, shown to create false information and fake news, adds to our severe disinformation problems. There are many risks associated with the technology.

As a result, QueerAF does not currently accept any contributions by generative AI, nor do we use AI to curate or create news content for our newsletter. We've updated our contributor guidelines to reflect this.

If we do use AI in the future, we'll tell you.

Artificial Intelligence is going to change our world - that’s inevitable. But in what way? That's still up to us.

πŸ’© Twitter scraps failed transphobia policy for all the wrong reasons

TL;DR: Twitter owner Elon Musk has scrapped the long-failed policy banning transphobia, deadnaming and misgendering on the platform. In a week where verified users lost their 'blue ticks', the platform is veering dangerously towards giving free reign to hate.
